For Congenital Heart Awareness Week, which is February 7–14, I created a badge to show support for awareness and research for this often overlooked birth defect, which affects approximately one out of every 100 babies born. CHDs are the leading cause of death in children under age one — more than all childhood illnesses combined.
I was fortunate enough to be able to write a piece for the blog "Who Needs A Cape?" in February 2013 to honor all the heart heroes and to raise awareness for congenital heart disease support and research:

Workshop in full swing!
We've received an amazing number of orders since the day after Thanksgiving, so we held a 48-hour ornament marathon. 14 orders were filled — with a total of 20 ornaments — in a 48-hour period, thanks to the help of elves, big and small. There are another 40 orders behind these, so there will be no shortage of hustle and bustle in this little workshop, either. What an awesome blessing this journey has been and continues to be.
Thank you, everyone, for the overwhelming response and support!

For the Bear Babies ...
Robyn Bear from "Remembering Our Babies" is not only kind enough to feature my ornaments in her memorial boutique — located at http://www.rememberingourbabies.net — but she even placed an order for her own custom ornament!
Thank you Robyn for sharing your babies with me.
